 Grading Policy 

Students' total grade in Art is based on:
  • Assessment of learning, work, and safety skills - 50% of grade

  • Assessment of portfolio - 25% of grade

  • Final Exam - 25% of grade

It's not difficult to get a 'C' in this class.
An 'A' requires some serious effort!



 Learning, Work, and Safety Skills 

Students will learn valuable concepts and skills in this class if they are willing to:
  • Listen quietly to presentations and instructions

  • Participate appropriately in class discussions
    (one at a time, on topic, polite to teachers and fellow students)

  • Participate appropriately in group activities

  • Focus on artwork and assignments and work diligently throughout project time

  • Follow instructions and all classroom and safety policies

  • Be on time to class and turn in makeup work for all absences


 Portfolio 

Your portfolio is a folder of the artwork and other assignments you have completed in Art class. Portfolios are valuable for reflection and analysis of your progress. They are a standard assessment tool for artists in any field.



 Final Exam 

The Final Exam will include a variety of portfolio assessments at the end of the semester.



 Excellence and Independent Projects 

Students may choose from a wide variety of independent Art projects and classroom service projects to earn extra points and build up their grade in this class.
