- Balance: Parts of a picture arranged so that areas seem to have equal visual weight.

- Composition: Organization of elements in an artwork.

- Concept: An idea.

- Content: The meaning of an image, beyond its obvious subject matter,
Includes the emotional, intellectual, symbolic, thematic, and narrative meanings.

- Critical thinking: Careful analysis before forming an opinion.

- Emphasis: Using any strategy to draw attention to a certain element in the artwork.

- Expression: Conveying ideas, feelings, and meanings
